BiS. Drugs. Erections. Semen. Baldness. BDSM. AKB. WTF.

So, BiS. Never ones to hold back, they've now decided to go even further in their quest to destroy idoldom, this time by ripping Miichan's scandal to shreds and adding a good dose of really rather un-idol-like imagery to it. The B-side to DiE, it's titled "Mura-Mura", a Japanese onomatopoeia referencing the sound a man makes while aroused. Fitting then, that the video should show that exact thing.

So, bald heads... tartan skirts... can only draw reference to AKB from that. Hi Miichan. There's also wheelchairs, gushing, BDSM (with a spiky bat... they listen to me!), and ska. Lots and lots of ska. Dunno if I've ever said on here, but I really like ska. The lyrics were even written by one of the new members, one Tentenko, in charge of assassins, apparently, within BiS. The pretty dark lyrics are about a stalker or something, melded with the happy ska music, leads to much lulz. I dunno if this is the happiest idols have ever made me feel, but it's pretty damn close. Hooray for BiS! Hooray for squirting! Or something.

The Election: A Victory For Common Sense?

So, the election was today, as if everyone and their mothers didn't already know. In it, we saw a complete turnaround of the established order. Big names fell left, right and centre, and in the end, Sasshi stood tall (on a float, which ran around the arena, rather than sitting in the throne, which was there for apparently no reason whatsoever as it wasn't used).

But it's got me thinking. In terms of scandals, this election showed an outpouring of support for "scandalled" members. I mean, huge support. With a group as big as the 48s, there will be scandals, of that there's no doubt. There's also a massive discrepancy between how those scandals are handled, from the HKT mass-firing to the NMB "let everyone vote for them to come back in." However, of the members who survive scandals, they've managed to perform not only admirably, but probably better than they would have without the scandals.

I suppose there's no such thing as bad publicity after all, and it shows that maybe not as many wota as has generally been assumed are so fixated on this idea of ritual purity expected of idols.

So, let's explore a little.

Babymetal's Megitsune is probably the most brutal piece of music I've heard from the last five years...

So, firstly, what don't I like about this song?

Well... it's not long enough. Something this amazing should be at least 12 minutes long and feature several long instrumental breaks. The dancing shamisenists in the PV are distracting, as are the flash-rewind cuts of Yui and Moa. But that's PV, not song. Shit, I've got nothing.

Babymetal have, once again, taken the bar, raised it, and then just thought, "you know, fuck the bar" and blown it up for fun. Apologies for that comma overdose.

The genre mixing has hit full throttle, to the extent that even Babymetal's management can't seem to figure out what fucking genre it is. Their attempt goes something like:

" MATSURI "metal means mix of Heavy Metal,Metalcore,Screamo,Break Down,2-Step,J-Pop Music,Enka( Japanese popular song which is full of melancholy),Matsuri...Hybrid style of music.

I think they just sort of gave up towards the end. I dunno who wrote this song yet, but they deserve an award. Though if it were Freddy Lim, of Chthonic, considering their latest album and his Momoclo wotadom, I honestly would not be surprised in the slightest. That breakdown in the middle is pure Chthonic.

At first I was honestly more excited by the prospect of the utterly hilarious Yui/Moa bside, Onedari Daisakusen. It features a weird mashup that sounds mostly like Limp Bizkit, but with rather large dollops of In Flames, Blood Stain Child and Pendulum to go along with it, plus probably the silliest (but most hilarious) lyrics of all time. The other bside wasn't bad either...

Now though, nope. This has won me over before I've even heard a clear rip of Onedari Daisakusen. This is glorious, brutal and holy fucking hell can Suuchan sing now. Get them a real band, stat. This is perfect.

FAKSM #24: When Love Just Keeps Growing... and Growing...

Have you ever heard a song that you really quite liked, but never thought was a masterpiece? Put it to the back of your mind for a couple of years, then as the years go by you recall it with ever increasing clarity; a resounding refrain in your mind as you scramble around trying to remember what that damn song is. Then you find it, listen again, and your world is transformed. You ever heard a song like that? Because I have. Only it's a repeating pattern, and with every oscillation it only gets stronger.

So, what the hell is it?

Once again I have to take you back to my old days of Star Wars geekdom, when I frequented a certain forum. There were a few musicians on there apart from me, some of the more notable ones were Charlie Griffiths from Beats' favourite Haken and also Anchorhead, Dan Golding from the Dili Allstars, and the bassist from a little unknown band from Belgium. This is about the little unknown band.

Called Ruby Ridge, after the massacre, I think they recorded two demos and then split up, before reforming with another name which I don't know. They might even be popular now, but I don't have a clue. Anyway, I'm making very little sense. Here's the song. It's called Cajun Rumble.

[audio:http://www.intlwota.com/metalhead/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Cajun-Rumble.mp3|titles=Ruby Ridge - Cajun Rumble]

The mix is a bit rough, it is a demo, but to me it's become one of those songs when every time I pick up a guitar I just have to play it. There aren't many of those I have, Emperor's I Am The Black Wizards and Cradle of Filth's Cthulhu Dawn are probably my most frequent warmup songs, but Cajun Rumble is quickly approaching those in frequency. And every time I play it, I feel like hearing it. And every time I hear it, I feel happy. So yes, a raw, unknown for a FAKSM. I hope one day I find out what the band was renamed as so I can find more of their music. Nothing even exists online anymore, it's disturbing.

Still, enjoy.
